Active Production And Design Blog

Let's talk about AV and the event industry as a whole.

Active Glows Crazy at their 25th Anniversary Celebration!

2018 is a monumental year for Active Production and Design. We celebrate 25 years of audiovisual and production service to the Atlanta area and beyond! As a celebration of this milestone we wondered how we could offer a memorable experience to our employees, clients, colleagues and friends. We have been blessed to work with the best venues, planners, and suppliers the event industry has to offer and wanted to say "Thank you" in a way that only Active can. We decided that the we would love to take the guests back to where it all began with an old school rave glow party! This was to be the theme and would require the perfect venue. It just so happens that our President, Matt Clouser has been friends with the proprietors of the Masquerade Atlanta since they were starting out in the industry, helping them install lighting in many of their event spaces, most at Kenny's Alley at Underground Atlanta. After seeing their new Masquerade space returned them to Kenny's Alley we were SOLD, it was a beautiful full circle moment. Their "Heaven" space is large, versatile and effortlessly edgy with an atmosphere that compels you to let loose and have fun. The Masquerade agreed to host us and we began building our team. William Fogler and his team at WM events offered to help with the decor and design, enlisting Balloonacy, Peachtree Tents and Events and Collection Event Furnishings to bring the space to life with neon colors and simple sleek furnishings. Entertainment was going to be paramount at our event and we were thrilled that we had THREE stellar entertainment companies to support us with DJs, Stilt Walkers, Dancers, Glowing Acts, and more! LED Experience Design brought performers of varying talents, Absolute Entertainment provided our opening DJ and extraordinary entertainers while Rhythm Entertainment provided a DJ that kicked off the glowing blacklight transition of the party. Since many of our attendees hadn't visited the new Masquerade and were maybe not as familiar with Underground Atlanta, we equipped our event with personal, friendly and engaging event staff courtesy of Urban Enterprises. The Masquerade's staff were also available at the bar and the door and were an absolute pleasure to work with. But what would any event be without food?! We reached out to several catering colleagues who did not disappoint with their offerings. We told them the nature of the event and how it would be atypical, and they were up to the task of providing tastings worthy of the affair! Our Savory dishes were provides by Legendary Events who brought a waffle station, veggie and cheese stations, and provided all the roving staff for the event. Fox Brothers BBQ brought delicious jalapeno rolls that were a big hit and flavorful. Palate Catering and Design offered up toasted sandwiches (including my favorite the bologna sandwich!) and chips. Our desserts were provided by Bold Events, who had a collection of neon desserts that would glow under blacklight, while Proof of the Pudding brought HUNDREDS of absolutely delicious petits fours. Bean in the Borough rounded out the offerings with espresso drinks to keep the crowd going and also poured espresso over ice cream (yum!). Ice Sculpture Inc were generous to offer a carved Active sculpture at the entryway that was beautiful and impressive.

With the help of all of these fantastic colleagues we had the stage set for an unforgettable night. Attendees were greeted with Active staff, colleagues, friends and familiar faces. The event started like many industry parties as attendees mingled around the space exploring the two levels of colorful decor, delicious bites, and activities that included an impressive graffiti photo booth provided by Button It Up. Attendees could take their picture in front of a brick wall backdrop and then walk over to a giant display and use spray paint-like cans and spray designs, write messages and have fun covering their photo with their own artistic flair! It was an extremely cool and innovative activation. Upstairs guests could paint themselves and shirts with UV paints to transform into the ultimate raver. After about an hour and a half of mingling and catching up our President, Matt Clouser, gave a speech to talk about the success of the company, his gratefulness to our clients, colleagues, family and friends, and spoke to the future of the company. Along with this he offered $250 cash to four lucky raffle winners! At the end of his speech he proclaimed "LET'S GLOW CRAZY!" with a massive pop of over a half dozen confetti cannons and a transformation of the space into a glow party, activating black lights throughout the space and bringing all the colors to life! The crowd of over 300 people danced the night away, filling the dance floor until well after the projected ending time of the event! The Masquerade was generous enough to allow the party to extend since everyone was having a blast. Here's to the future of Active Production and Design and we can't wait until our next milestone when we're celebrating 30 years!
